Taking a Break

I’m headed out of town tomorrow, flying to the piney north–in other words, to my hometown of Boise, Idaho.  Although Boise is a lovely town with all the modern amenities, I’ll be staying with my parents in The House That Knows No Internet. Which means I’ll also be taking a break from blogging for the next week. In return for your patience, I promise lots of pictures when I return.  (Pictures of what, you might ask?  Perhaps the Capital City Market on Saturday morning.  Perhaps a Frozen Baked Potato from the Westside Drive-In.  Believe it or not, there is no shortage of culinary joys in Boise.)

Plus, I’m going to try to bring some home cooking back to my mother’s house.  She has her hands full with taking care of my father, whose health has been in steep decline for several years now, and she’s already asked that I make a batch of jam for her while I’m in town.  I’m hoping this means she won’t mind if I just commandeer her kitchen.  That would be a first, but hey–a Foodie can dream.

In the meantime, I hope you’ll share some of these summertime favorites with your own family:

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Brisket

Marinated Corn and Zucchini Salad

Fresh Strawberry Pie

See you next week!

Share! It's the right thing to do.

Enjoy your break! I am so excited about these recipes. I use the heck out of my crockpot, and strawberry pie… yummy. Thanks.
